Performance Art

Fencing waistcoat Ann Demeuelemeester

A theoretical construct is brought into theatrical performance. The body in its centre, the garment as the opponent, a dramatic antagonist. Eventually, they find together. I'd like to call this play The Antwerp Collection.

What to wear? What to pack? Your opinion and comment is highly appreciated. Sleeveless and shorts. Leather and leopard. Sequins and muscles. One, two or three? Paris, Paris, Paris.

I am a bipolar personality. Rudimentary. My mind is trained to decide. Black or white. Right or wrong. I take the consequences. And like to think in extremes. There is no doubt about me. I am Horst Demeulemeester.

Belgian Confusion

Ann Demeulemeester Spring/Summer 2008

Life in Antwerp is so slow, I fall asleep. Actually, I am in an Ann Demeulemeester Dada coma right now. Constantly trying to disarm my impatience. And soothing myself with shopping fantasies.

The Return

1. Sean & Seng, Damir Doma
2. Robert Mapplethorpe, Petar Petrov
3. Robert Mapplethorpe, Ann Demeulemeester

My Prerogative

1. Ann Demeulemeester Spring/Summer 2011
2. Andy Warhol
3. Julius Spring/Summer 2011

Mental preparations. Less than two weeks left. Synchronizing memories and assembling formal elements, abstract impressions. How would one describe it? How would one wear it? It's an amour fou.

The Unfeasible

Book 6+ Antwerp Fashion

The beauty of article scans. When I hold this publication in my hands and flipped through its pages I instantly knew: I want it. I need it. The disillusion: It's not available anymore. So if anyone wants to shake it off those dusty shelves, here I am. Willing to take loving care of it.

Compression

Ann Demeulemeester Spring/Summer 2011

To contrast yesterday's confession, serious offerings for a tasteful man's wardrobe. All-white futurism replaces the erstwhile melancholic romanticism of Ann Demeulemeester. An inventive shift to modernity that pleases my eye.
